Sherlin Hendrick is interested in the universality of the human spirit. “I sculpt the figure because I am inspired by our infinite forms and gestures, and because I believe we learn from studying others and ourselves.”

Ms. Hendrick has exhibited in galleries and museums in the north-east United States and western Canada, including the National Academy Museum in New York City, the Chesterwood Museum in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, the Touchstones Nelson Museum of Art and History in Nelson, BC, the Kootenay Galley of Art in Castlegar, BC., and the Langham Galleries in Kaslo, BC.

She is the recipient of several major awards including Phoenix Gallery Solo Competition Award curated by Lisa Dennison, Chief Curator of the Guggenheim Museum in New York City, and received second prize for her sculpture at the Chesterwood Museum “Contemporary Sculpture ’97” exhibition in Stockbridge, Massachusetts.

Her work is in the corporate collections of the Summa Foundation, Philadelphia, PA, and Church Homes, Inc., Noble Horizons, Connecticut, MA, as well as in private collections in the United States and Canada.

Ms. Hendrick sculpts in bronze in a variety of low and medium fire clays, and incorporates multiple finishes, including smoke, raku, glazes, and casein paint.
